Achieving optimal performance and FPS (frames per second) is crucial for a smooth and competitive gaming experience in Valorant. While the game’s minimum system requirements are relatively modest, maximizing your Windows performance can significantly enhance gameplay, responsiveness, and overall enjoyment. In this guide, we’ll explore various techniques and optimizations to boost Valorant performance and FPS on your Windows system.
Valorant CPU Requirements
Before trying to boost your game performance, make sure your PC checks out with Valorant’s requirements. Valorant requires a minimum of 4 GB RAM to run, but when it comes to CPU, according to Riot, you need at least 2 cores to run it on 30+ FPS and 6 cores to run it on 144+ FPS, which is a hassle for competitive gamers with a low-end system. However, we have a list of solutions to boost your FPS in Valorant.
a. Windows Performance
Update Graphics Drive
Check “Device Manager” under “Display adapters” to find your graphics card model.
Go to NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel’s official website, find the latest driver, and follow the prompts to install.
Graphics Preference
Go to Settings > Display > Graphics settings. Press the application and click on Options. Boost the performance of Valorant by setting the Graphics preference settings to High.
Process Priority
Set Valorant’s process priority to high. To do that, open Task Manager, navigate to the Details tab, right-click the Valorant process, and select High from the Set priority menu.
Game Mode
Go to Start and search Game Mode. From here, turn the Game Mode on if it is off and turn it off if it is on, whichever option increases your Valorant FPS.
Disable full-screen optimization
- Go to whichever disk you installed your Valorant in. For mine, I have it on disk C therefore my path is C:\Riot Games. Then, go to VALORANT\live\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64.
- Right-click on VALORANT-Win64-Shipping.exe, click Properties then go to Compatibility.
- Check the Disable fullscreen optimization box and hit Apply.
B. In-game Performance
Don’t Limit FPS
- Go to your in-game settings and navigate to the Video.
- After that, on General, turn OFF the options next to Limit FPS on Battery and Limit FPS Always. In contrast, turn ON the Limit FPS in Menus and Limit FPS in Background options.
Lower Resolution
- Again, in your Video settings, go to Graphics Quality.
- Turn ON Multithreaded Rendering.
- Keep the Material, Texture, Detail, and UI Quality at a low or medium level.
- Turn OFF the Vignette and VSync options.
- Set the Anti-Aliasing to MSAA 4x and select 4x in the Anisotropic Filtering menu.
- Turn OFF Improve Clarity, Experimental Sharpening, Bloom, Distortion, and Cast Shadows.
And that’s it! By implementing the strategies outlined in this guide, you can possibly unlock the full potential of your Windows system and optimize your gaming experience in Valorant. Whether you’re fine-tuning graphics settings for maximum performance or ensuring your hardware drivers are up to date, every optimization contributes to smoother gameplay, increased responsiveness, and ultimately, a more enjoyable gaming experience. Remember to regularly maintain your system, stay updated on the latest optimizations, and tailor settings to suit your hardware capabilities and personal preferences. Happy gaming!
